What was called “the extreme COVID lockdown” by USA Today in early August is dragging on and on. In early September, it was reported that Australia was going to “live with” the virus, but now almost a month later, Melbourne is hitting record numbers even with two months of lockdowns. (Residents are being blamed for the outbreaks due to hosting sports-watching parties in their homes.)
Frustration is mounting in Melbourne during what is now its 6th lockdown which is designed to end on the 26th of this month. Sydney’s lockdown rules are expected to lessen on the 11th.

Vaccine passports are in use in multiple countries around the world. From Brazil, Canada, Denmark, and Japan to Luxembourg and Liechtenstein, to the EU. Some countries are requiring them for citizens to perform day-to-day activities. The Financial Times mentioned in a recent article that vaccine passports were highly successful (their perspective) in France, where people had to obtain one to use long-distance public transport, go to a café or movie theater, and so on.

In Israel, where most people are already fully vaccinated, up to a million people in the country will lose their vaccine passports unless they get a booster. The country, which previously had one of the highest daily infection rates, is now seeing a significant contraction of the disease.
