There are basic Methods to grab attention when you are publicly speaking: First is to stay silent when you enter the room you will grab the attention of your audience, second and the most important advice is to do an introduction, some people will quote philosophers or political figures or start with a real story or something that happened to most people in the room to link it to your topic. Sometimes you need to go straight to the point for example if you are in interview.
